The 60-year-old announced his retirement from BCCI commentary on X, grabbing the attention of cricket fans on the platform. “I am retiring from commentary for BCCI,” he posted.

When asked in the comments about his decision, he followed up with another post revealing his thoughts. He openly questioned BCCI’s choices, citing his extensive experience in commentary while highlighting the roles he had rarely been assigned.
“If I have not been used for TOSSES and PRESENTATION for 23 years and newcomers do pitch reports, tosses, and presentations even when Shastri was coaching, what do you think could be the reason?” Laxman Sivaramakrishnan wrote on X.
Recently, high-profile roles at toss and presentations during major BCCI matches have gone to figures like Ravi Shastri and Harsha Bhogle, while other commentators have taken on similar duties in other games. He feels frustrated about being overlooked for these roles for a long time.
