4th student has died by suicide in NIT Kurukshetra. The deceased identified as Diksha Dubey, a resident of Bihar. She was a 2nd year student in the AI and Data Science program at the institute.
4th Student died by suicide in NIT Kurukshetra
She was found hanging in her room at the girls’ hostel. The reason behind suicide not found yet. Police officials and the crime scene team arrived at the hostel, and the body sent to LNJP Civil Hospital for a postmortem test.
GianBhushan, the NIT public relations officer, stated that an unfortunate incident occurred that day. He confirmed the girl was a second-year student and mentioned that police are investigating the matter.
Investigation ongoing
Vishal Kumar, the SHO at KUK police station, said they received information about the suicide from a hostel at NIT Kurukshetra. He noted that the family of the deceased informed, and her body moved. The investigation is ongoing. Appropriate actions taken based on the family’s statements. The reason for the suicide remains unknown.
With Diksha’s passing, four suicide cases reported at NIT in the last two months. Earlier, Angoth Shiva, 19, from Telangana, allegedly died by suicide on February 16. Pawan, from Nuh, allegedly died by suicide on March 31, and Priyanshu Verma, 22, from Sirsa found hanging on April 8.
