A major uproar broke out on Friday at the North Campus of Delhi University, the country’s top university. A female social media influencer was reportedly manhandled and pushed during a protest against the UGC Act on the North Campus. Witnesses say she was surrounded, asked her name and caste, and assaulted for asking questions.
Midnight drama at Delhi University
After the incident involving the influencer, a group of students showed their support. Following this, students gathered outside the Morris Nagar police station, chanting slogans late into the night. They demanded strict action against those who allegedly mistreated her.
Controversy over the UGC Act
A young YouTube influencer was encircled by a crowd of students. She raised questions about the UGC Act, and the situation quickly escalated. It is claimed that UGC supporters objected to her title, asked about her caste, and then pushed, shoved, and mistreated her.
Photos of the incident show the young woman trapped among the crowd. Some people are seen surrounding her and trying to block journalists from the scene. The police arrived and managed to rescue her.
