73% Amazon workers consider quitting their job after return-to-office mandate for 5 days in a week

Recently, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy announced that all employees need to join office to work five days a week starting from January 2025۔ As a result, there has been a tremendous amount of backlash as Amazon workers consider quitting۔ According to a poll conducted by Blind, 73% of the employees at Amazon are reportedly thinking of quitting because of the new mandate.

A total of 2,585 confirmed Amazon workers have been surveyed, most of whom are not happy and started actively searching for new jobs even before the beginning of the return-to-office policy. Over one-third of employees assert that they already know someone who quit over this policy. It confirms that a massive pool of Amazon workers consider quitting۔

Amazon’s new policy may encourage other big companies to do the same

Fortune’s investigation shows that employees are “rage applying” to more flexible roles. In fact, more than 90% of Amazon workers report dissatisfaction with the in-office mandate, which many fear will become a new norm; already, other tech giants like Block, Google, and AT&T have provoked anxiety among professionals through comments on Blind.

It may mean that employees of these companies may consider quitting, following Amazon’s workers’ footsteps۔

Amazon workers consider quitting, yet multiple companies follow similar policy

While Dell is one of the last to join in, making its salespeople work from their offices five days a week, research shows that’s not the way things are going at most companies. Instead, many are becoming flexible or reversing their return-to-office policies.

According to the analysis of over 9,000 companies presented by Flex Index, though half of US firms asked employees to go back to offices in last January, flexibility, according to the report, remains more common than strict mandates like Amazon’s. There is a speculation that Amazon may change its policy.
