Pahalgam Victim's Family Struggles for Promised Job After Deadly Attack

Distressed and disappointed by the state government’s 10-month delay in delivering a promised job, 26-year-old Asawari Jagdale has approached the Union government for help. Asawari is the daughter of Santosh Jagdale, who killed in the Pahalgam terror attack.

“We are facing financial hardship since the main breadwinner of the family killed by terrorists on April 22 last year. I had to give up my private-sector job to support my mother, who has been struggling,” Asawari told, sharing her family’s emotional and financial struggles over the past months.

The family is still grappling with the trauma of the terror attack and the violent loss of a loved one. “To make matters worse, we now forced to chase the government job promised by the state government,” Asawari said.

“We are shocked by how the administration treating us, telling us to go back and forth to Mantralaya to get things done. The politicians keep giving us false promises that the process is underway, but so far, we haven’t heard anything about any progress.”

Family Still Coping With Trauma

“It was the CM who promised me a government job, while both Deputy Chief Ministers also assured us of their support. Now, as the focus away from the incident fades, no one has communicated anything about the job in writing. In fact, no one has even checked on my mother or me since then,” she added.

“I can’t take a job in the private sector to avoid the complications of quitting midway, but I also don’t have a government job. We are managing our finances solely through our savings, no one understands our pain,” she said.
