Did you know? Saif Ali Khan's attacker demanded ₹1-crore ransom from him

In an unusual incident late Thursday night, a home attacker managed to get inside actor Saif Ali Khan’s high-end flat in Bandra and allegedly demanded a ₹1-crore ransom. The confrontation resulted in a full-fledged hand-to-hand fight between Saif and the burglar; it left Saif with six stabs in the body. It has made it highly visible for a lack of security in many residential buildings which have high-profile occupants.

The intruder reportedly entered the 12th-floor residence late at night and threatened house staff with a sharp weapon to hand over a large amount of money. According to police reports, the house help first saw the shadowy figure Kareena Kapoor, checking on one of their children. When she looked closely, however, she realized it was a stranger. She threatened her not to tell anyone, and when the second housemaid arrived, he repeated his demand for ₹1 crore.

Attacker demanded Saif Ali ₹1-crore ransom after actor came down on hearing noises

Hearing the noise, Saif Ali Khan came down to the room and immediately intervened for the protection of his family. During the tussle, the intruder attacked the actor with a sharp weapon, resulting in injuries at six different points on Saif’s body. The weapons, it is reported, even broke off and lodged into his body in the course of the scuffle.

With Saif hurt and no other driver available, the family hastily called his son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, who lives on the 8th floor of the same building. Ibrahim and his sister Sara Ali Khan dashed to their father’s rescue. But not familiar with the car, which, as it happens is an automatic electric car, they decided to move Saif in an auto-rickshaw.

Doctors at Lilavati Hospital successfully operated on Saif, and he is currently stable. This incident has raised serious questions about security in Mumbai’s upscale neighborhoods, even in buildings housing high-profile residents.
