JioHotstar Launch officially on 14 Feb, Merges Disney+ Hotstar

JioCinema has announced the official JioHotstar Launch on 14 Feb. This streaming platform has launched officially with a merger of Disney and Hotstar. It is a joint venture between The Walt Disney Company and Reliance Industries. The merger brings the two famous streaming platforms together and combines their features, sports coverage, libraries, technology, and a lot of entertainment for users.

With this, India OTT market has growing rapidly. As per reports, the market was valued at $200.5 billion in 2022 and is expected to rise to $836.5 billion by 2032, with an annual growth rate of 17.2%. The high demand for digital content and competition drive the growth of these streaming platforms.

What the CEO said on the JioHotstar Launch

The CEO, Kiran Mani said that this streaming platform is designed to enable users to enjoy content, without the need of immediate subscription. “The idea behind it to allow all customers to sample content extensively, Mani said.”

CEO also said, “JioHotstar invites all to come and watch their favorite content without subscription. We want all users to enjoy fully, whether it is their famous TV shows, web series or cricket match.”

JioHotstar Subscription Model

JioHotstar Launch also introduced a new subscription model. The existing subscribers of  Disney+ Hotstar will continue streaming with their current plans without changes. The pricing of these plans is Rs 149 on mobile, Rs 299 for the Super plan, and Rs 349 for the Premium (Ad-Free) plan for three months.

JioCinema Premium users are also allow to upgrade the JioHotstar Premium for remaining time period of their subscription. The new streaming platform provide wide variety of content, include TV shows, Hollywood films, cricket matches, web series, etc to users. It also introduces many advanced features to improve the watching experience. It consists the  AI-powered insights, 4K streaming, real-time stats overlays, multi-angle viewing, and special interest feeds.
