Veteran actor Sudesh Kumar Dhawan died on May 1 after suffering a brain stroke. He was 95 years old. He passed away at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.
Two weeks before his death, he experienced a brain stroke. He was hospitalized from April 20 to April 30. After initial treatment, he returned home last week, where they arranged an ICU setup to continue his care. He is survived by his wife, Jaya, and daughter, Mishika.
Sudesh Kumar dies at 95 in Mumbai
Sudesh Kumar was born on March 17, 1931. His prayer meet will take place on May 4, 2026, starting at 4 pm at FPH Banquets Hall in Mumbai.
Although he pursued a science degree at Elphinstone College, he followed a different path than his father wished for him to become a doctor. He was drawn to performance and chose acting instead, starting his journey with Prithviraj Kapoor’s famous theatre group.

Sudesh Kumar became well-known for his role in the tragic romantic film Saranga, where he played the lead. Over the years, he appeared in a variety of films.
In addition to his work in Hindi cinema, he acted in several successful South Indian productions. His performances in films like Chhoti Bahen, Bharosa, and Khandan helped him gain recognition as a supporting actor.
Beyond acting, Sudesh Kumar also got involved in film production. His final project as a producer was Jaan Hatheli Pe.
