Big earthquake shakes Myanmar, 3 dead in Bangkok building collapse

Two back-to-again earthquakes of magnitudes 7.7 and 6.4 struck Myanmar on Friday, with strong tremors in Thailand’s capital, Bangkok. Big earthquake  shakes Myanmar and knocking down a high-upward thrust and prompting the authorities to claim an emergency and shut down metro and rail services. Strong aftershocks were also felt in Meghalaya and numerous northeastern states, Bangladesh, and China’s southwest Yunnan province.

Such was the effect of the earthquake that a high-rise collapsed in Chatuchak district in Bangkok, around 900 km away, killing 3 workers. Several are still trapped. The tremors forced people to expire in their houses and despatched water sloshing out of pools from high rises.

In Myanmar, three people died after a mosque partly collapsed. The iconic 90-year-old Ava Bridge in Myanmar’s Mandalay also crumbled into the Irrawaddy River because of the large quake, whose epicenter was close to Sagaing. Social media posts showed collapsed homes, spiritual shrines, and particles strewn throughout the streets of Mandalay. Several roads also advanced cracks in the capital Naypyidaw.

High Rise Collapses In Bangkok, Metro Halted

In Bangkok, numerous buildings had been evacuated and companies closed for the day after Big earthquake  shakes Myanmar. However, there were no reviews of casualties in the Thai capital. Bangkok went into lockdown because the government closed metro services, airports, and subways. The Stock Exchange of Thailand also suspended all trading activities.

“I was sound asleep in house, and then I ran as a way as I should in my pajamas out of the constructing,” a resident of Thailand’s Chiang Mai informed AFP.
