Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj starts from 13 January and lasts till 26 February, and Pilgrims counts are increasing day by day. Due to this, Mahakumbh Mela 2025 faces 15–18 hour traffic jams, with exhaustion and hunger.
Recently, Ruchi Joshi who travelled from Noida with her family, shared her experience with news media. Their journey are unbearably long, they spend 12 hours without food. They walk 5 hours to reach to Sangam shore. She said, “ Elder people are with us. My feet have blisters due to too much walking. I need to get them dressed after return to my home.”
High traffic and route diversions at Mahakumbh Mela 2025
Traffic restrictions in Kumbh have created a nightmare for people. Pilgrims also diverted repeatedly, and force them to walk 15-20kms to reach to bathing site. Even short distances need navigating km of rerouted paths.
Joshi, who began her journey from Noida hoped for smooth experience after get reports of thin crowds. But after arriving there, she faced a lot of problems and realized the situation had worsened again.
The scale of the pilgrimage is huge. A huge number of devotees appears in Kumbh, and gathered at single spot due to high traffic.
Long hours walk to reach Prayagraj
Due to the high traffic in Mahakumbh Mela 2025, the Joshi driver needs to stop 17 km before Prayagraj. The family have only the option to walk and reach to Prayagraj. After arrive at 11:30 am, they need to walk for long way. That time, E-rickshaw drivers also refused to take passengers, because of the worst situation. The good thing is that some locals help them by offering rides on their bikes, and cover their small distances. “With this also, it took 5 hours before we reached the Sangam Ghat, she said.”
