The Telangana Commissioner of Food Safety (CFS) raided Naseeb Biryani in Kaithalapur, Kukatpally, due to food safety concerns. As per the Telangana food safety department, the operation revealed alarming levels of unsanitary practices and unsafe food preparation methods, raising serious public health concerns.
Found duplicate and reused cooking oils during raid in Kukatpally
Food Safety team found that the restaurant regularly bought and reused used cooking oil to prepare fried onions in bulk.
Reusing oil, especially in large-scale cooking, is risky. It causes the oil to degrade, which can lead to harmful compounds that pose health risks. Inspectors also observed that the entire kitchen was kept in an extremely unsanitary condition and did not meet basic food safety standards.
1000 kg raw onions and 70 kg fried onions destroyed
The enforcement team acted quickly to stop the contaminated food from reaching customers. They destroyed around 1,000 kg of raw onions and 70 kg of already fried onions on-site. They also seized about 480 kg of questionable cooking oil, sending samples to the lab for further testing. To protect public health, the authorities have closed the premises until the investigation is complete.
This incident is part of a larger raid conducts by officials in Hyderabad against food businesses that do not follow basic hygiene rules. Recent inspections across the area have also uncovered tons of tainted cooking oil, expired flour, and unsanitary ingredients. Health experts continually warn that eating such contaminated food can result in severe gastrointestinal infections.
