A shocking incident at a well-known Ghazipur Dhaba revealed serious issues with food safety and hygiene, leading the district administration to shut it down. This action came after a customer posted a viral video claiming to have found a dead rat in a plate of curd while dining there.
The video quickly circulated on social media and showed the restaurant owner confronting staff about the incident. The disturbing images caught the attention of senior district officials, who instructed the food safety department to act immediately.

After the video went viral, food safety officials carried out a surprise inspection of the restaurant. During this check, several violations discovered, raising concerns about the overall cleanliness and safety at the establishment. Officials also confirmed that the restaurant operator admitted a dead rat found in the curd served to the customer.
Food samples taken for laboratory testing to evaluate potential health risks. In response to the findings, the food department ordered the immediate closure of the restaurant. Officials instructed that all cooking and serving of food must stop till further notice. The restaurant remain closed until it addresses the identified problems and authorities are satisfied that it meets required food safety standards.

Ramesh Chandra Pandey, Joint Director of the Food Department and Deputy Commissioner (First) of Food Safety in Ghazipur, said the decision made directly in response to the viral video and the violations found during the inspection. He emphasized that food safety standards maintained and that establishments ignoring regulations face strict consequences.
The Ghazipur Dhaba incident caused widespread anger among local residents, many of whom are worried about the safety of eating out. Several social media users questioned how such lapses could happen at a popular restaurant and called for stricter, regular inspections.
