At least 19 people were killed and dozens seriously injured when a dumper truck driver, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, went on a 5 kms rampage in Jaipur, Rajasthan, officials said on Monday. The speeding truck lost control on Lohamandi Road, crashing into several vehicles, including cars and motorcycles that were coming from the opposite direction.

Eyewitnesses said the driver seemed heavily intoxicated and kept driving even after multiple collisions, destroying everything in his path. The rampage ended only after the truck stopped following a major crash that left several vehicles wrecked. Rescue teams and local police quickly arrived at the scene and rescued those trapped under the debris.
Officials reported that the injured taken to nearby hospitals, and efforts underway to identify the deceased. Police have detained the driver and are performing medical tests to confirm alcohol use.
PM Modi express condolences
PM Modi express his sorrow over the accident and announced financial help for the families of the deceased and the injured. He said, “I am pained by the loss of lives due to a mishap in Jaipur. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured recover soon.”
The Prime Minister announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each victim and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
