A overall of 49 Rabies Cases had been reported in the national capital this year. There are more than 65,000 stray dogs sterilised and vaccinated over a six-month duration.
The rabies cases recorded at the MVID Hospital between January and July of this year, while 35,198 animal chunk incidents reported throughout the capital from January to June, as per records.
Anti rabies vaccines handle the Rabies Cases
To handle these issues, an same range of anti-rabies vaccines (ARV) administered during this period, an official said. In a bid to control the stray dog population and save you from the spread of rabies, the MCD sterilised and immunised 65,031 stray dogs between January 25 and June 25 this year.
In contrast, the civic body has projected that 97,994 puppies will sterilised and vaccinated between April 2024 and December 2025. This follows previous years in which 79,959 dogs sterilised in 2023-2024, and 59,076 in 2022-2023, indicating a growth in efforts.

Officials said that the civic body focused on enhancing the efficiency of the sterilisation community and control Rabies Cases. To further address the problem, the MCD’s status committee formed a subcommittee in earlier month to raise awareness on stray dog management. The subcommittee held its first meeting on Thursday, in the course of which it decided to re-engage the NGOs presently concerned in the sterilisation programme and includes more successful corporations.
