A five-year-old boy lost his life after being hit by a car that was reversing in a residential area of Loni kalbhor in Pune, according to police reports. The incident happened around 5 pm at Joy Nest Society, where the child, Nikash Reddy, was riding his bicycle.
Pune Accident Occurred While Car Was Reversing
The Loni kalbhor police said the driver of the car lived on Mundhwa Road. He entered the society to drop off a friend near one of the buildings. While backing up after the drop-off, the car hit the child. “The boy was caught under the rear wheel of the vehicle as it was being reversed,” a police officer stated.
Child declared Dead at Hospital
The driver quickly took the injured child to a nearby private hospital. Medical staff declared him dead upon arrival, police reported.
The boy’s father, aged 40, then filed a complaint at the Loni kalbhor police station in Pune. After this complaint, authorities started a case against the driver for reckless and negligent driving, as well as causing death by negligence.
