The Budget session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly have seven meetings. It will start on Monday and run until March 17, with the presentation of the State Budget for 2026-27 on the first day.
12th Manipur Legislative Assembly starts in Imphal
The Assembly will begin with any obituary references. Then, the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) will present its report. Next, the budget estimates for 2026-27 presented, along with a discussion on the Governor’s address, as outlined in the provisional calendar of sittings issued by the Secretary of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
On the second day, Tuesday, there will a general discussion on supplementary demands for grants for 2025-26, followed by discussion and voting on these supplementary grants. The general discussion on the budget estimates for 2026-27 also take place.
Assembly Session includes questioning and answering
Starting from March 12 till the last day of the session on March 17, there will be a question-and-answer session. It covers different departments and the passing of government bills, if any.
The decision to hold this session came after a BAC meeting. It is chaired by Assembly Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata, with CM Yumnam Khemchand Singh present. The 7th session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly began on February 5 with the Governor’s address, following the swearing-in of BJP leader Yumnam Khemchand Singh as the 13th Chief Minister of the State. That session adjourned indefinitely.
