Arunachal Dance Team face racism at Patna Hospital

On 2 April, the Arunachal dance group tried to use the public washroom at the hospital. As per the accounts shared online, a attendant stopped them and asked for their identification. The hospital authorities or police not made the official statement yet, and FIR has not filed against them.

The situation escalated when the group protested the attendant’s demand. The attendant used insulting terms like “Momos,” “Chinki,” and “Chinese,” while laughing during the exchange, which was captured on video.

In the footage, one of the women expresses her stress over such incidents. “Hum log apna North East se ghoomne ke liye aate hain, par aise 1-2 karan se hum darte hain (we come from the Northeast to travel, but because of incidents like this, we are scared).”

The video quickly circulated on social media, generating strong reactions from users in states like Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh. Many posts urged officials to intervene, tagging Pema Khandu and local police.

While some users suggested that the attendant’s request might relate to hospital ID checks, this explanation did little to calm the criticism.
