A Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist was killed and an overground employee (OGW) injured in the Bandipora Encounter on Friday amid search operations to nab the perpetrators of the Pahalgam terror attack wherein 26 tourists had been shot dead in cold blood.
Two soldiers have also been injured even as the trade of fireplace keeps among security forces and terrorists. An encounter broke out between terrorists on Thursday night time in the forest area of the district as security forces continued their hunt for the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack that left 26 people useless on Tuesday.
Security personnel start search operation over Bandipora Encounter
Security personnel had released a cordon and search operation in the Kulnar Bazipora location following intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the region. During the operation, the terrorists, who were hiding in the area, opened a fireplace on the security forces, prompting a retaliatory reaction.

Meanwhile, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi arrived in Srinagar, where he was briefed on the ongoing anti-terror operation in Bandipora Encounter. He is expected to carry out a thorough test of the safety situation and compare the development of the project to track down Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants suspected of involvement in the current Pahalgam terror attack.
In a separate development, security forces and the Jammu & Kashmir government on Friday demolished the houses of terrorists believed to be connected to the Pahalgam incident. The house of LeT operative Adil Hussain Thoker in Bijbehara was destroyed using improvised explosive devices (IEDs), while the house of any other suspected militant, Asif Sheikh, was razed with a bulldozer in Tral.
