A bold robbery in broad daylight was reported from Ayodhya. A woman dressed in a burqa allegedly held up a jewellery shop at gunpoint and escaped with an accomplice.
The incident happened around 2 PM on Thursday at a store in the Agarwal Complex, under the Rudauli police station’s jurisdiction. CCTV cameras inside the shop captured the entire event.
Burqa Woman Robs jewellery store in Ayodhya
Footage of the robbery has spread on social media and gone viral. The video shows the woman entering the store as a customer and spending time looking at jewelry. Moments later, she suddenly grabbed a gold necklace from the counter, pulled out a gun to threaten the staff, and quickly fled.
Reports indicate that the woman stole nearly 26 grams of gold ornaments. As of Thursday, gold prices in Uttar Pradesh were Rs 14,684 per gram. The value of the stolen jewelry estimated over Rs 3,80,000.
Fake pistol used to rob
Officials have identified the suspects and said that efforts are going to catch them. They also mentioned that the weapon used in the robbery might have been a fake pistol.
Armed robbers also struck a jewelry store near Bengaluru. On January 27, a jewelry store on the outskirts of Bengaluru hit in broad daylight by armed men who stormed in and fled with gold ornaments and cash. This robbery took place at Ram Dev Jewelry in Dasanapura, near the National Highway in Nelamangala, around 5:30 PM. CCTV cameras at the shop captured the whole incident.
