Tamil Nadu CM Stalin burned a copy of the proposed delimitation bill on Thursday. He called it a “black law” and accused the Centre of trying to turn Tamils into “refugees” in their own land.
This act took place in Namakkal during his campaign, just hours before Parliament met for a special session. Dressed in black with party workers, Stalin chanted slogans and set the document alight.

“Poradavom, Velvomondraga” (Let us struggle, win together) one of the slogans heard at the scene. In a statement, Stalin said, “Let the flames of resistance spread across Tamil Nadu. Let the arrogance of the fascist BJP brought down. The fire of resistance against Hindi imposition that started in Tamil Nadu reached Delhi and kept burning until Delhi had to give in.”
“Today, I have reignited that fire by burning the copy of this black law and hoisting the black flag against it. This law seeks to turn Tamils into refugees in our land. This fire will spread across Dravidian land. It will rise, rage, and bring the BJP’s arrogance to its knees,” he added.
Lead protests
This protest follows his call for demonstrations across the state against the Centre’s delimitation proposal, which he claims will hurt Tamil Nadu’s interests.
Rahul Gandhi referred to the bill as an “attempted power grab” through “gerrymandering” on Wednesday night.
“What the government is proposing now has nothing to do with women’s reservation. This amendment is an attempted power grab using delimitation and gerrymandering,” Rahul posted on X.
