India’s 4th aircraft carrier INS Vikrant Board by Rajnath Singh

On Friday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met with Indian Navy personnel aboard INS Vikrant. It is the 4th aircraft carrier operated by the Indian Navy, following the British-starting place INS Vikrant (1961–1997), INS Viraat (1987–2016), and INS Vikramaditya (2013–present). The carrier named after India’s first plane carrier.

INS Vikrant built at cost of ₹20,000 crore

Commissioned into service 2 years ago through PM Modi, INS Vikrant built over 13 at a cost of ₹20,000 crore. The 45,000-tonne vessel boasts 76% Indigenous content, is 262 meters long, and includes 15 decks and a pair of 300 booths.  It can carry as many as 30 aircraft, comprises a team of 1,600, and has more than a few 7,500 nautical miles, as per previous report.

On Thursday, Rajnath Singh lauded  Indian Navy for overcoming vast physical and intellectual challenges at some point during their journey aboard INSV Tarini, which started out on October 2, 2024.

Defence Minister warns Pakistan

After aboard INS Vikrant, Rajnath Singh said that India verified a powerful and limited response to Pakistan’s provocations during Op Sindoor, adding that while Indian forces were able to inflict more harm, the government selected to showcase subject and strategic coordination to the sector.

Addressing the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) summit in the capital, Singh said the goals of national protection and self-reliance, praising the function of the Make in India project in bolstering India’s defense readiness.

“You saw how we first destroyed the terrorist hideouts and then the enemy’s navy bases and airbases,” Singh said. “‘Karne ko hum kuch aur bhi kar sakte the’, but we provided best example of coordination of strength and restraint to the world.”
