In the recently launched Indore Beggar Eradication Campaign, the MP government found Mangilal, a beggar who has gathered wealth worth crores through begging. The government discovered that Mangilal owns three houses in different parts of the city and also gives loans to people in need.
Indore beggar, Mangilal owns 3 homes, multiple cars
Mangilal, who has attracted a lot of attention since being identified by the Women and Child Development team, is also a recipient of a one-BHK house from a program by the state government and the Red Cross. However, he continued to beg and became a familiar figure on the streets of Indore with a wooden card.
Further information reveals that Mangilal owns three autorickshaws, which he rents out. He also has a Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which he uses for renting as well. His properties include a three-story building in Indore’s Bhagat Singh Nagar, Shivnagar, and Alwas.
Lends money in Sarafa Bazaar
Along with renting cars and autos, Mangilal earns money as a part-time moneylender in Indore Sarafa Bazaar area at interest rates. He frequently visits Sarafa and collects Rs 400–500 from his clients, and he is now a well-known figure there.
After identifying him, the District Nodal Officer told that several people had complained about him to the state administration, leading to his rescue by the Women and Child Development team. Meanwhile, District Program Officer Rajeesh Sinha stated that the state administration will maintain strict measures, and those who promote or engage in begging will face serious consequences.
