ISRO Release Satellite Images of Damage Caused by Massive Myanmar Earthquake

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Monday launched satellite images of the effective earthquake caused by the 7.7 importance earthquake that struck Myanmar and rattled nearby international locations on March 28, 2025.

The catastrophe triggered big devastation, particularly near Mandalay, Myanmar’s second-biggest city, killing over 1,700 people.  Cartosat-3, the distance company’s Earth-imaging satellite, which may help with images at a decision of fewer than 50 centimeters, is controlled to capture photographs from an altitude of 500 kilometers above the Earth.

ISRO Releases Satellite Images

In the aftermath of the earthquake, satellite imagery from ISRO’s Cartosat-3 has provided important insights into the extent of the destruction. The launched photos show how a big bridge over the Irrawaddy River collapsed. The harm to Mandalay University was also highlighted.

The earthquake ended in catastrophic damage throughout multiple areas, leaving several people injured while many lost their lives. Infrastructure such as roads, residential homes, and ancient landmarks also suffered intense destruction. Notable harm became pronounced in Mandalay and the nearby Sagaing region. The photographs taken on March 29 revealed widespread harm to Mandalay’s infrastructure, together with landmarks that suffered either complete or partial disintegration.

Sites collapsed due to Earthqauek

Several most important sites, like the Mahamuni Pagoda and the historic Ava Bridge, also collapsed. In addition to this, tremors were felt in Thailand, prompting emergency responses there as well.

A state of emergency has been declared by Myanmar’s military government as rescue operations are underway to find those trapped. According to ISRO reports, over 2,900 people have died, with lots more injured. India was one of the first international locations to offer help and fly rescue teams to offer help to Myanmar at this critical time.
