Jagannath Rath Yatra 2025 Stampede: 3 Dead, Others injured Near Gundicha Temple In Puri

The pilgrim city of Puri in Odisha prepared to witness the Jagannath Rath Yatra 2025 starts on 27 June with thousands of devotees set to participate on this religious occasion.

During the festival, devotees pull grand chariots of 3 deities: Lord Jagannath, his brother Lord Balabhadra, and Sister Devi Subhadra. The 3 deities spend a week on the Gundicha Temple, and then they go back to the Jagannath temple here.

Security Arrangements during Jagannath Rath Yatra 2025

Authorities have deployed around 10,000 security employees for the annual Rath Yatra celebrations. Police assets over 250 Artificial Intelligence-enabled cameras installed in various places in the metropolis for surveillance. The 10,000 security personnel deployed for the event comprise the Odisha Police and 8 corporations of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF). As this year’s Rath Yatra party held post-Pahalgam terror attack, safety preparations made maintaining things, a senior police officer said.

3 Dead in unfortunate incident at Rath Yatra

In a unfortunate incident at Jagannath Rath Yatra 2025, 3 devotees died and many others face injury during darshan of Lord Balabhadra, Lord Jagannath and Devi Subhadra opened early today morning at 4.30 am. The injured people rushed to hospital where the doctors declared 3 dead.
