Modi Launches National HPV Vaccine Drive for Girls to Fight Cervical Cancer

PM Modi launched a nationwide National HPV Vaccine Drive for 14-year-old girls from Ajmer in Rajasthan. The campaign against cervical cancer started at a program in Kayad, Ajmer, where several girls received the vaccine. PM also spoke with the beneficiaries during the event.

Modi Launches National HPV Vaccine Drive

According to officials, the campaign will use a single-dose “Gardasil 4” vaccine, which is a quadrivalent HPV vaccine. This injection offers protection against HPV types 16 and 18, which cause cervical cancer, as well as types 6 and 11.

Girls get benefit while fighting cervical cancer

On February 25, the Union Health Ministry sent an official message to all States stating that all 14-year-old girls across the country will receive a single dose of the “Gardasil 4” vaccine at government health facilities. This includes Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (Primary Health Centres), Community Health Centres, sub-district and district hospitals, and government medical colleges and hospitals.
