A commuter in Mumbai confronted Maharashtra’s Water Resources Minister, Girish Mahajan, and local police after a political rally caused serious traffic congestion in the Worli area of the city. The disruption happened during a protest march organized by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), part of the Mahayuti alliance.

The demonstration targeted the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, particularly the Congress and other opposition groups. The BJP organized the march to protest the recent rejection of the Women’s Reservation Bill at the Centre that not pass because it lacked a majority.
Scheduled for 5 pm, the march attracted many women who raised slogans against the MVA. It started at Worli’s Jambhori Maidan and ended at the Dome. The Jambhori Maidan area densely populated with residents from the BDD chawls, and the roads usually experience heavy traffic in both directions.
Shout at demonstrators, says Get Out of here
A Mumbai woman, who was on her way to pick up her child from school, found her vehicle stuck in the traffic for several hours. Frustrated by the standstill, she left her car, walked into the center of the march, and got into a heated argument with Mahajan. She raised strong questions about the public inconvenience caused by political rallies, used harsh language, and demanded that the crowd disperse, shouting at the demonstrators to “Get out of here!”
She pointed out the nearby open space and shouted at Mahajan, “There are hundreds of people waiting. There is an empty ground there.” The commuter was also angry with the Mumbai Police.
