A curfew is occurs in various areas after Nagpur Violence broke out over a call to remove tomb of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb from Maharashtra. The 17th-century emperor’s tomb is in Aurangabad, now called the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district.
Police issue notice over Nagpur Violence
Police commissioner of Nagpur, Ravinder Kumar Singal issue notice under Section 163 of the Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. This notice state that curfew applies to Kotwali, Tehsil, Ganeshpeth, Lakadganj, Shantinagar, Pachpaoli, Sakkardara, Nandanvan, Imamwada, Kapilnagar and Yashodharanagar police station areas. The curfew will applies till further notice.
As per notice, the supporters of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal gathered near to Shivaji Maharaj’s statue at Nagpur’s Mahal area yesterday and starts protest to remove Aurangzeb’s tomb from Maharashtra. They also raised some slogans and burnt photos of Aurangzeb and “a symbolic grave in a green cloth.
Dozens of police personnel injured in Violence
As per reports, the burning of the green cloth cause rumors as many claim sacred verses were written on it, and create tension in area. In last evening, there are around 80 to 100 people from a certain community turned violent as per notice. They throw stones at cops and set fire to several vehicles. Police used mild force in the form of lathicharge and teargas.
The situation is under control now. 4 persons have been injured in this Nagpur Violence case. More than 12 police personnel are also injured. Total 50 people are detained that are related to Violence. Police also deployed heavy force in this area. CM Devendra Fadnavis urges people to cooperate with the police to ensure law and order.
