Omar Abdullah refused to cut Tricolour ribbon
Abdullah, who was invited as the Chief Guest, was asked to cut the ribbon, which was designed to look like the Indian National Flag. Upon seeing the ribbon, the Chief Minister quickly expressed his disagreement and asked the organizers to untie it. In the end, he was seen removing it with the help of the organizers.
People on social media widely appreciated Abdullah’s action after a video of the incident went viral. However, some users were not happy about using such a ribbon in a government program.
How users react?
One user on X noted that Omar Abdullah chose dignity rather than focusing on appearances. They wrote, “True respect isn’t in ceremony, but in conscience. Omar Abdullah chose dignity over optics. A gesture that speaks louder than words.”
Another user praised Abdullah’s gesture and called him a role model. Meanwhile, a few users raised concerns about using a tricolour ribbon in a government program.
