PM Modi spoke at a virtual rally in Nadia, West Bengal, after he couldn’t reach the site due to heavy fog. His helicopter return to Kolkata airport when it couldn’t land at the Taherpur helipad because of low visibility this afternoon. It circled the helipad for a while before turning back, according to officials.

He also apologized to those who attended the rally in Taherpur for not being able to speak to them in person. During the rally, the prime minister criticized the ruling Trinamool party. He accused the party, led by Mamata Banerjee, of protecting illegal immigrants, which he called a major issue for the upcoming assembly elections.
“The Trinamool supports the infiltrators, and that’s why they oppose the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls,” he said. He urged the people to give a chance to a double-engine government in the state.
Attend people virtually
“Let Trinamool oppose me and BJP as much as it wants, but Bengal’s progress should not be stopped,” he added. He claimed that corruption, nepotism, and favoritism from the current government have hindered development in the state.
He described the situation in the state as “maha jungle raj,” drawing a parallel with his campaign in Bihar. The PM also expressed his condolences for the BJP workers who died in an accident on their way to the rally.
PM Modi arrived in Kolkata this morning for the rally in Nadia district. He was supposed to take a helicopter to Taherpur and launch some highway projects in the state. The BJP rally, called Parivartan Sankalpa Sabha, was supposed to follow. However, due to bad weather, the travel plans were canceled, and the PM spoke at the rally virtually.
