The Punjab Kesari newspaper group wrote to CM Bhagwant Mann, claiming that enforcement authorities were targeting it with multiple raids. They said these events started with a fair news report on opposition allegations against the ruling AAP’s national convenor. The group accused the authorities of trying to intimidate the press.
Why Punjab Kesari Accuses AAP Government
PTI attempted to contact the AAP and the government for a response, but none was available immediately. The letter, signed by Vijay Kumar Chopra, Avinash Chopra, and Amit Chopra, expressed their deep concern about recent developments. They believe the Punjab government is specifically targeting the Punjab Kesari Group and its associates to intimidate the press.
They requested Mann to investigate this matter and take necessary action as soon as possible. The letter stated that the issue began with a news story published on October 31, 2025. This report was a balanced account of the opposition’s allegations against the national convenor of the ruling party in Punjab.
All ads are halted by AAP Government
Starting from November 2, 2025, all advertisements to the Punjab Kesari group have been halted by the Punjab government, according to the letter. Despite this economic pressure on the press, the group remains committed to independent reporting. However, they claimed that a relentless campaign against Punjab Kesari and its promoters has been launched in recent days.
Additionally, the group noted that several actions had been taken against the Chopra family, who are the promoters of Punjab Kesari.
