Congress Leader, Rahul Gandhi on Thursday demanded martyr status for the 26 victims of the lethal Pahalgam attack and asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to “respect the feelings of the families of people who misplaced their lives by using giving honor to them.”
“I stand with the families of those killed in the Pahalgam attack of their grief and of their demand for martyr status. The Prime Minister is requested to admire the emotions of the households of individuals who lost their lives in this tragedy by giving this honor to them,” the Congress leader wrote in a post on X.
Rahul Gandhi Request to BJP for martyr status
The Congress leader had posted a clip of his meeting in Kanpur with the family of Shubham Dwivedi, one of the victims of the April 22 attack in Pahalgam.
In the video, the spouse of the victim is heard telling Congress leader, “I don’t want something for myself, but for Shubham I want martyr status for him. Not only for Shubham, for all the 26 people.” Meanwhile, the father of the deceased instructed the Congress leader, “You can give us that, you could talk to the government, can talk to the Prime Minister.”
Congress Leader Keep martyr status over than caste census in meeting
In every other clip of a press conference in the national capital, Rahul Gandhi had requested martyr status for the victims killed in deadly attack, saying that maybe this thing is more important than the caste census.
“Today perhaps that is even more crucial than caste census, I went to Kanpur, and talked with the families of the victims of terrorism. Their son was killed in attack, without mercy. The Prime Minister has stated that the humans were martyred, and we want you to provide them the martyr status,” Gandhi had stated in the press convention.
