Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, the district administrations in Rajasthan’s Barmer, Sri Ganganagar, and Jodhpur have issued a Red alert, urging the public to return to their home. In Barmer, district collector Tina Dabi ordered all markets to be closed and all public moves to end at once at around 10 am.
“All residents are ordered to return to their homes. Markets have to be closed, and all public movement is to stop with instant result. Authorities were directed to ensure the strict enforcement of these orders. This is a pressing notice,” an order by using the district collector said.
Red alert issue after drone attacks
Earlier in the day, at 5 am, another red alert was issued after drone attacks were reportedly released from throughout the Pakistani border. However, Indian defence systems effectively intercepted and neutralised the threats. A blackout remained in effect till 6 am, lasting nearly 12 hours.
In Sri Ganganagar, officials stated that a complete lockdown is in effect. And that citizens are strictly advised to stay indoors. “The district administration and police have appealed to all citizens to completely comply with official instructions and extend entire company,” an order said.
Residents Ask to sit homes
In Jodhpur, the district administration also directed every person to reside at their houses. “After Red alert issue, Markets are to be closed, and all movements are to be stopped,” a message stated. Meanwhile, in Jaisalmer, markets have been shut down as a precautionary measure. The police seen constantly appealing to the public not to gather in public places.
