Union Cabinet condemn the Indira Gandhi-led Emergency, Calls it Murder Of Democracy

The Union Cabinet chaired by PM Modi, on Wednesday, June 25. It take decision to condemn the Indira Gandhi-led government imposition of Emergency in 1975. In the reminiscence of those who lost their lives during Emergency, the cabinet also held two minutes of silence.

In a X post, PM Modi also expressed his disapproval of the suppression of civil liberties and the censorship of media. He wrote, “‘The Emergency Diaries’ chronicles my journey during Emergency years. It added back many recollections from that time.”

Why Union Cabinet Condemn Emergency

“I call all individuals who do not forget those dark days of the Emergency. He also call people whose households suffered during that time to share their reports on social media. It will create awareness some of the children of the shameful time from 1975 to 1977,” he added.

Speaking about equality, Delhi Cabinet Minister Parvesh Verma advised ANI in a statement, “In the council meeting, we passed a decision condemning the emergency. While, people detained under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) during emergency, our NDMC organise a program for them and show appreciate to every fighter in our democracy.”

Emergency is like Murder of Democracy

“The emergency is a dark bankruptcy in the country while our constitution was undermined. We can not overlook this, and the same party that imprisoned the people who oppose them today cries for the complete charter. This is a problem of disgrace,” Union Cabinet said. The Emergency in India that last for 21 months from June 25, 1975, to March 21, 1977, marks its 50th anniversary this June 25.

It was declared by PM Indira Gandhi in a national address with on All India Radio. The declaration made just hours after the Supreme Court issued a conditional stay on an Allahabad High Court ruling that had invalidated her Lok Sabha election.
