Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami announced a 10 % Agniveer Reservation in government jobs. The Department of Personnel and Vigilance issued the “Horizontal Reservation Rules 2025” for uniformed posts under Group-C direct recruitment in Uttarakhand State Services on Monday.

With this new policy, retired Agniveers receive a 10% horizontal reservation in several key uniformed positions, including police constable (civil/PAC), sub-inspector, platoon commander, fireman, fire officer grade-II, jail warder, deputy jailor, forest guard, forest inspector, excise constable, enforcement constable, and secretariat guard. This provision also opens opportunities for their work in the Tiger Protection Force.
This decision aims to benefit young people. Given Uttarakhand’s large population of military members, it seen as vital for their future. Dhami said, “Former Agniveers who come back after serving the nation are the pride of our state. It is our duty to provide them with respect and job opportunities. This decision is a concrete step towards securing their future. Our government is making every effort to provide employment for ex-servicemen and Agniveers.”
CM announce ex gratia amount for families
Along with Agniveer Reservation, Dhami also announced a increase in the ex-gratia amount for the families of martyred soldiers and gallantry award recipients. The ex-gratia given to the families of martyrs has risen from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. For Param Vir Chakra awardees, the ex-gratia has increased from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore. Also, one family member of a gallantry martyr will receive a government job.
Dhami mentioned that the construction of the Sainya Dham (Military Shrine) in Dehradun, that designated as the fifth dham, has been completed. This dham aims to honor the military heritage of the state and will serve as a symbol of bravery and sacrifice, connecting future generations with the heroic legacy of Uttarakhand.
