In an alarming set of news, multiple Indian airlines have received bomb threats imposing a big threat to passengers’ lives. On October 22, the number of cases increased by more than 50 after new threats were reported on 12 Akasa flights and 13 IndiGo flights. Some of the affected Akasa flights include QP-1142, QP-1153, and QP-1324 among others. At the same time, IndiGo flights such as 6E-17, 6E-196, and 6E-214 also received threats.
This disturbing spurt of cases highlights how Indian airlines have weathered bomb threats by the dozen over the last two days. In addition to the 10 IndiGo, 13 Air India, and 11 Vistara flights whose take-off was scuttled by bomb threats in the morning today, Indian airlines that have been threatened with bombs are getting on high alert with enhanced security measures as a precautionary measure.
Some of the IndiGo flights affected by the threats include 6E-164 from Mangaluru to Mumbai, 6E-75 from Ahmedabad to Jeddah, and 6E-118 from Lucknow to Pune. Luckily, passengers on these aircraft were evacuated without incident, and the airlines ensured that normal security measures were conducted at all points.
IndiGo releases statement as Indian flights are endangered
IndiGo, among the Indian airlines which have experienced bomb threats, communicate with its clients. It says that the safety of its travellers would always take precedence over any other matter for the airline. IndiGo, in an official statement, said,
“The safety and security of our customers and crew remain paramount. We worked closely with authorities and sincerely regret any inconvenience caused.”
Notably, the other airlines to have borne the brunt are Air India and Vistara-where the surge in security alerts has left its mark. Air India flights like AI-101, AI-103, and AI-105 were affected by the alert. Vistara flights UK-17, UK-21, and UK-23 were among the ones whose passengers were screened.
The wave of threats comes after yesterday’s bomb scares where over 30 local and international flights operated by Indian airlines received bomb threats. Today, authorities continue to investigate the source of the threats. Moreover, airlines have heightened their security measures to continue keeping passengers and crew safe.
