Rohan Mirchandani, co-founder and CEO of Epigamia, died on December 21 after a cardiac arrest at the young age of 41. A trailblazer in the Indian food industry, Mirchandani transformed Epigamia into the country’s leading Greek yogurt brand under Drums Food International, which he co-founded in 2013.
The company’s leadership team, including COO Ankur Goel and co-founder Uday Thakker, issued a joint statement. “Rohan was our mentor, friend, and leader. His vision and values will continue to guide us as we work to honor the foundation he built and ensure his dream flourishes,” said the statement.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Mirchandani graduated from Bergen Catholic High School. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and International Business from NYU Stern School of Business, which he pursued after attending. He then continued to acquire his MBA at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
He started his professional career as an associate at Duff & Phelps in 2004 and sat on the board of The Ross Group, a holding company focused on logistics. In 2013, his entrepreneurial vision led him to start Drums Food International, in which he launched Epigamia as India’s first Greek yogurt brand.
Epigamia, a brand that has diversified offerings to lactose-free, plant-based, and preservative-free products such as milkshakes, smoothies, almond drinks, and cheese, under its leadership was soon to become a household name and was likely to reach the Middle East by 2025-26, said the person.
However, Mirchandani retained a 4.68% stake in the $160 million startup while announcing plans to double annual revenue to ₹250 crore in the current fiscal year.
Rohan Mirchandani’s passing leaves a void in the business world, but his legacy of innovation and leadership will continue to inspire.
