Delhi Police arrests two for creating fake documents to obtain voter ID cards

Delhi Police have arrested two men for creating fake documents to obtain voter ID cards. The accused, Juber (35), a cab driver from Ramesh Enclave, and Nadeem (30), a resident of Kirari Suleman Nagar, were arrested after an investigation, officials said on Sunday.

The case opened on December 30 when the Electoral Registration Officer for Assembly Constituency-09 filed a complaint at Prem Nagar Police Station. He complained that five applications for voter registration included possibly forged documents. Scrutiny revealed that one application, of Juber, contained fraudulent details.

The police opened an investigation that revealed while three applications were genuine, the submission by Juber had tampered with details. Investigators found out that the residential address on his Aadhaar card was altered before he applied for a voter ID. Although the Aadhaar number itself was correct, the altered address was done with a clear intention of attempting to fraudulently secure a voter ID.

Police arrest Nadeem and Rames for creating fake documents to obtain voter ID cards

Further probing led police to Nadeem, who operates a Jan Sewa Kendra in Mangolpuri. Nadeem assists residents with applications for voter IDs, Aadhaar cards, and other documents. Authorities found that Juber had entrusted his original Aadhaar card to Nadeem, who used his position to alter the address and submit the forged voter ID application.

Both men were arrested, and the investigators are now trying to find out if there are more people involved in the forgery network. Police have confiscated the hard disk from Nadeem’s shop to collect further evidence.

Police further investigate the matter

A senior officer said, “We are probing whether more individuals or organized networks are part of this operation. Stringent action will be taken against all involved.

This incident calls for an investigation of the authenticity of documents and the misuse of public service centers. Authorities are expected to increase scrutiny of voter ID applications to prevent a repeat of this.
