Nearly 50 public parks and tourists spots throughout Jammu and Kashmir have reportedly been shut as a precautionary measure after Pahalgam attack that claimed 26 lives, basically tourists. The unknown officials told agency that gates were closed at 48 of 87 public parks and gardens in Kashmir because tourists perceive them as a risk.
The closed spots consists both well-known and emerging tourist spots consisting of Dooshpathri, Kokernag, Duksum, Sinthan Top, Acchabal, Bangus Valley, Margan Top, and Tosamaidan. Though not introduced through a formal government order, the closures of those tourists spots had been enforced on the ground, with gates locked and access blocked to several popular spots.
In the case of numerous Mughal Gardens in south Kashmir, the doors to those spots had been locked. The choice to close down the tourist spots comes a week after terrorists shot lifeless 26 people, usually tourists, at Baisaran meadows in Pahalgam resort.
Tight security in Kashmir after Pahalgam attack
Tensions between India and Pakistan, nuclear-armed neighbors, have expanded since the assault because the Pakistan Army persisted in its unprovoked firing across the Line of Control (LoC) at the night time of April 28–29, focused on areas contrary to the Kupwara and Baramulla districts, as well as the Akhnoor quarter, marking the 5th consecutive day of such firing. Meanwhile, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi to short him on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the navy’s preparedness following the Pahalgam terror attack. Their 40-minute meeting took place just hours after the Pakistan Army opened fire on several Indian posts alongside the Line of Control (LoC).
