A Pune law student, identified as Sharmistha Panoli, arrested by Kolkata Police from Gurugram on Friday night. She arrested for allegedly making offensive comments on post on Op Sindoor. Even the video deleted later, but as per police sources, Panoli had uploaded it on Instagram that consists “disrespectful remarks” targeted on a specific religion.
Why Police arrest Sharmistha Panoli
The clip went viral, sparking outrage and leading to a police complaint being filed at a police station in Kolkata. Following that, an FIR registered against her by Kolkata Police. “The case against the Instagram video by woman named Sharmistha Panoli that hurt the religious sentiments of people of a specific community,” police officer said.
Authorities claimed that repeated tries to serve a fake word to Panoli failed as she and her family had allegedly absconded. Following this, a court room issued a warrant of arrest, based on the fact that she arrest from Gurugram.
Panoli seeking apology on social media
However, following the controversy, Sharmistha Panoli seek an unconditional apology on social media and deleted her videos and posts. She wrote on X, “I do seek my unconditional apology. Whatever put are my personal emotions and I never want to hurt all people, so if anybody is hurt I’m sorry for the same. I expect co-operation and understanding. Henceforth, I can be careful in my public post. Again, please accept my apologies.”
