The Madras High Court, on Thursday, reversed a local court decision to discharge senior DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Minister Durai Murugan in a disproportionate assets case. The courtroom directed a special court room in Vellore to possess charges against Durai Murugan and his wife and continue with the trial.
This comes sooner or later after a same order in every other disproportionate property case relationship again to the duration between 1996 and 2001. Justice P Velmurugan, who delivered the verdict, informed the unique court room to remove the case in 6 months, engaging in the trial on a daily basis.
Madras High Court reversed decisions in 2 asset cases
The case relates to allegations of the minister accumulating net worth Rs 1.40 crore, which became allegedly disproportionate to his regarded sources of income during the check duration between 2007 and 2009. During this period, Durai Murugan served as the Public Works Department (PWD) Minister in the DMK-led government (2006–2011).
What the cases revolve around?
On Wednesday, Justice Velmurugan passed a same order in every other case that involved not only Durai Murugan but also his family individuals, and the Madras High Court directed income to be framed towards all concerned. The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) first filed the case in 2011. In 2017, a special court in Vellore had discharged Durai Murugan and his wife. However, DVAC challenged the release order in the High Court, leading to the current ruling.
