The Uttar Pradesh authorities on Thursday suspended senior IAS officer and Invest UP Chief Executive Officer Abhishek Prakash over allegations of corruption in approving a challenge, officials here said. After Abhishek Prakash suspended, An alleged intermediary, Nikant Jain, involved in the case was also arrested on Thursday, they stated.
Prakash, a 2006-batch IAS officer, became suspended after an investor in the solar industry lodged a complaint alleging that Jain demanded a commission to facilitate approvals for initiatives.
Abhishek Prakash suspended in corrupation case
The government said in a announcement similarly disciplinary lawsuits were instituted against Prakash. The suspension order said, “Abhishek Prakash, Secretary, Establishment and Industrial Development Department, UP Government and Chief Executive Officer, Invest UP, have been determined responsible prima facie for the irregularities in the case. His act is a violation of Rule-3 of All India Services (Conduct) Rules-1968.
“Therefore, after due consideration of the above data, Governor suspends Prakash, IAS, with on the spot impact,” it stated.
The governor also ordered to institute disciplinary proceedings in opposition to him for the cause of giving “stop punishment under Rule-8 of the stated Rules”.
Prakash working as CEO
Invest UP is the country’s investment marketing company, aiming to attract and facilitate investments. Prakash was serving as its CEO, but now Abhishek Prakash suspended in corruption matter. Jain was arrested for allegedly corrupted money from an entrepreneur for clearing his idea with the help of Invest UP functionaries, officials stated.
Nikant Jain (40), son of the late Sudhir Kumar Jain, was arrested close to Shahid Path, Husadiya Chowki in Gomti Nagar, police said. He was held after an FIR was registered against him following a proper criticism.
