FIR against Yograj Singh over Derogatory Remark
Advocates Ujjwal Bhasin and Jatin Verma, along with the Punjab State Women’s Commission, argue that the remarks in the clip are not only indecent but also support misogyny, damaging societal respect for women. They believe that such content, especially from a public figure, risks normalizing outdated attitudes and violates principles of equality tied to Sikh teachings. This case highlights ongoing tensions between creative expression in media and the limits of acceptable portrayals of gender roles.
Lawyers and the women’s commission demand accountability
After the clip went viral, the Punjab State Women’s Commission took notice and called for a senior police investigation. Complainants requested legal action against anyone involved in producing, directing, promoting, or sharing the content. Advocate Bhasin also adding charges for offending religious sentiments, citing conflicts with Sikh values. These demands show a broader push to hold both performers and content creators responsible in cases involving disrespectful depictions of women.
