In the mixed team compound of archery, Ojas Pravin Deotale and Jyothi Surekha Vennam beat South Korea to win India its 16th gold medal at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou.
With Ojas-Jyothi’s gold, India has won 71 medals at the 2023 Hangzhou Games, surpassing its medal haul from the 2018 Asian Games.
A single Asian Games edition has also seen India equal its gold medal tally.
In the 35km mixed race walking event earlier in the day, Ram Baboo and Manju Rani won bronze.
After six medals from the track and field events on Tuesday, India’s Asian Games medal tally reached 69.
With 15 gold, 26 silver, and 30 bronze medals, India ranks fourth in the medal standings.
