Delhi Government Warns Public About AAP's Fraudulent Schemes

The Aam Aadmi Party’s newly announced welfare AAP’s fraudulent schemes recently earned the attention of the Woman and Child Development (WCD) of Delhi Government. Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana have courted controversies after the Delhi WCD and Health Departments issued public cautions against fraudulent registrations.

Last week, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal announced these schemes and promised monthly financial assistance for women and free medical facilities for senior citizens. But on Wednesday, notices from the departments made it clear that none of these schemes have been officially notified or implemented yet.

The WCD Department stated that forms were being distributed and individual information was being collected, under the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana’. However, the notice published in national dailies claimed that the government has not initiated any scheme of this sort. Therefore, the department cautioned all against providing sensitive information to rogue elements or organizations and deemed their actions as fraudulent. Delhi government’s statement reads:

“It is clarified that no such scheme has been notified by the Delhi government,”

Similarly, the Health Department warned the ‘Sanjeevani Yojana’ stating that no official sanction exists for this scheme. The advisory cautioned the public against falling prey to the benefits offered and asked them to be alert.

Kejriwal Reacts

In reaction to the public notices, Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the BJP-led central government was trying to sabotage the welfare agenda of AAP knowingly. He has charged them with planning raids on the senior leaders and hinting at fabricated charges against some of the other party leaders, including Atishi.

Kejriwal has also announced a press conference over the developments and remained firm over the proposed schemes. He added:

“These people are badly upset by the Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana. They have planned to arrest Atishi ji in the next few days by fabricating a fake case. Before that, raids will be conducted on senior AAP leaders,”

Why does WCD consider AAP’s fraudulent schemes fake? What do these schemes promise?

The ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana’ envisages Rs 1,000 as a monthly allowance to each adult female of Delhi with a projected rise to Rs 2,100. Inspired by identical initiatives in other states, the scheme will support women economically vulnerable women.

‘On the other hand, the ‘Sanjeevani Yojana’ has planned free health care for all those residents who are above the age of 60. Opposition parties opposed these suggestions also, alleging that due to delay, the viability of these proposals is suspect amid budgetary constraints.
