On Friday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin called on seven counterparts, include Bengal’s Mamata Banerjee, Punjab’s Bhagwant Mann, and BJP-ruled Odisha’s Mohan Chandra Majhi to join ‘joint action committee’ of parties against delimitation. MK Stalin protests against delimitation and asked Kerala’s Pinarayi Vijayan, Karnataka’s Siddaramaiah, Telangana’s Revanth Reddy, Andhra Pradesh’s Chandrababu Naidu, and senior politicians from non-ruling parties and BJP in each of states, to meet Chennai on 22 March.

He said on X, “Delimitation is a blatant assault on federalism and punish states that ensure population control by stripping away our rightful voice in Parliament. We never allow this democratic injustice.”
Mr Stalin and his government protest against the centre’s ‘Hindi imposition’ and delimitation before the Tamil Nadu elections next year. They argue and combined, amount to an attack on the federal nature of the Constitution, Tamil people and their language
But centre refused their charges, and countering the ‘imposition’ claims. They say that the new National Education Policy and the three-language formula do not force any student to study Hindi. It deflects the criticism of delimitation by insists the southern states will not be disadvantaged.
Stalin call 7 Chief Ministers
MK Stalin protests against delimitation and conducts the meeting to address the latter concern. The Tamil Nadu leader warned the diminish the influence of states that managed to control population levels.
In his letter, he point towards the delimitation exercises after 1976 had been put on hold by a 2002 amendment, passed when BJP’s Atal Bihari Vajpayee was Prime Minister – that said changes to the number of Lok Sabha seats – now 543 – will be frozen till at least 2026.
