Pallavi Patel, a Samajwadi Party MLA, was taken into custody in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday after protesting against the vandalism carried out by Karni Sena on the residence of Samajwadi Party MP Ram Ji Lal Suman. Sharing a protesting video on X, SP MLA Pallavi Patel wrote, “Protesting on the streets of Lucknow against the attack and violence on the residence of a Dalit MP. Taken into custody together with hundreds of supporters. The war will hold.”
Pallavi Patel and Apna Dal (Kamerawadi) workers attempted to level up a protest from Parivartan Chowk to Hazratganj intersection. However, the police set up barricades at Parivartan Chowk and detained all protesters, transporting them to Eco Garden in buses.
SP MLA Pallavi Patel Demands Action Against Accused Under NSA
MLA Pallavi Patel said that Ram Ji Suman belongs to a Dalit own family, that’s why he was subjected to such atrocities, calling it a pre-planned conspiracy. She focus that this became not a one-time incident but were plotted for a long term.
In addition, SP MLA Pallavi Patel added that historians have written about the same concern in specific approaches. However, attacking a Dalit MP’s residence based on settlement or disagreement is wrong and a rather legal act. She demanded that the accused be charged under National Security Act (NSA) and that the Karni Sena be banned, as per a file by Amar Ujjala.
On Tuesday, March 26, individuals of the Karni Sena attacked and vandalised the Agra house of Ram Ji Lal Suman. The protest against Suman stemmed from a statement he made concerning Rana Sanga. Following the attack, each the police and Ram Ji Lal Suman’s son have filed separate FIRs.
