A Reddit user shared how their workplace made maintaining a LinkedIn profile a monthly assignment, and employees were not happy about it. The user explained that their company required every employee to publish at least three LinkedIn posts per month. All posts had to work-related and tagged with the company.
Employee slams company for posting office banner on LinkedIn forcefully
If that wasn’t enough, employees also had to replace their personal LinkedIn cover image with the company’s office banner. The user wrote, “On top of that, they’ve forced us to use the company’s office banner as our LinkedIn cover image. Our personal profiles are suddenly their marketing assets now?”
The user confronted HR about this new rule. They argued that if posting on LinkedIn such a strict requirement, it should have clearly said during hiring. It got worse when they revealed that another employee who refused to comply told by the CEO to resign.
Employee personal profile become Co. Marketing assets
The user noted how strange it felt when a professional profile meant for networking and personal branding was being treated like an internal announcement board. They argued that while companies often encouraged online visibility, using LinkedIn posts as a way to threaten job loss crossed a line for many.
Towards the end of their post, the Reddit user asked the community if this behavior was typical or even legal for companies in India.
Overall, many social media users agreed on the idea of creating a burner LinkedIn account and posting whatever the company requested, just to avoid more issues with management.
