The Men’s Under-19 Asia Cup 2025 started with an exciting display of batting. India’s 14-year-old opener, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, scored an impressive 171 runs off 95 balls against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Under-19 team in the first Group A match at the ICC Academy Ground on Friday.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi achieve 433-6 in 50 overs in India Team
Suryavanshi’s innings helped the Indian team achieve a massive total of 433-6 in 50 overs. After UAE captain Yayin Rai chose to field first, India U19 faced an early setback when skipper Ayush Mhatre was dismissed for just four runs in the third over. This brought Suryavanshi and Aaron George together, setting the stage for an aggressive partnership.
Suryavanshi, in excellent form, initially played cautiously but quickly shifted into a more aggressive style. He reached his half-century in just 30 balls. A standout aspect of his innings was his ability to hit boundaries. The young batter from Bihar struck nine fours and 14 sixes against the UAE bowlers.
Broke records of most sixes in U19 Asia Cup
This incredible display of power-hitting earned Vaibhav Suryavanshi a place in the tournament’s record books. He broke the record for the most sixes in a single innings of the U19 Asia Cup, previously held by Afghanistan’s Darwish Rasooli, who hit 10 sixes in 2017.
Suryavanshi completed his century in only 56 balls. He continued his onslaught, reaching 150 runs in just 84 balls before being run out after scoring 171 off 95 deliveries, achieving a strike rate of 180.
