The BCCI has taken a strong step against Asia Cup Annual General Meeting, set to held in Dhaka on July 24. Amid geopolitical problems and worst conditions in Bangladesh, the Indian board has made it clear that it will boycott Asia cup if the meeting venue not changed.
BCCI Boycott Asia Cup over meeting venue conflict
The Asia Cup, scheduled in the T20 format this year. Despite India being the special host country, the event has neither been officially scheduled nor assigned a showed venue by the ACC. Adding to the chaos is the BCCI’s firm objection to the city of the July 24 AGM. A source acquainted with the developments advised ANI that India will not send representatives to Dhaka and has already asked a venue trade. But with ACC president Mohsin Naqvi yet to respond, the state of affairs stays annoying. “Asia Cup can take place if the meeting venue changed from Dhaka,” the source said.
“ACC chairman Mohsin Naqvi is trying to put unnecessary pressure on India for the meeting. We requested him to change the venue, however received no response. BCCI will boycott any resolution if Mohsin Naqvi is going held the meeting in Dhaka.”Naqvi presently serves as the PCB chairman and Pakistan’s minister, a dual function complicate the political conditions.
Earlier venue conflicts by BCCI
This problem is not a new. India had refused to travel to Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup, resulting in Sri Lanka changed as a neutral venue. A similar stance was occurs during the Champions Trophy earlier this year, with India playing all in their matches in Dubai.
The controversy also follows previous speculation in May that India had withdrawn from both the Men’s Asia Cup and the Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup.
