India and Pakistan will compete on Sunday at the Dubai International Stadium in a Group A match of the 2025 Asia Cup. This game reignites one of cricket’s fiercest rivalries.
It will be their second matchup this year, following India’s victory over Pakistan in the Champions Trophy group stage at the same venue. This also marks the first meeting since the Pahalgam Terror Attack in April, which led to a military standoff and increased tensions between the two countries.
Special units placed at match venue in Dubai
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations at Dubai Police and head of the Events Security Committee, said that special units have been assigned for the important match. He promised quick action against any disturbances and warned that threats to public safety would bring strict legal consequences. With tensions high, Dubai Police and the Events Security Committee have set strict rules for spectators attending the match.
Heavy fine and Jail Penalty on Violations
According to the Federal Law on the Security of Sports Facilities and Events in Dubai, violations can lead to heavy fines and even jail time. Unauthorized entry onto the pitch or bringing prohibited items, such as fireworks, flammable materials, lasers, umbrellas, large cameras, selfie sticks, sharp objects, glass items, toxic substances, flags, banners, pets, or remote-controlled devices like scooters and drones, can result in one to three months in jail and fines between Dh5,000 and Dh30,000 (₹1.2–7.2 lakh).
